Cesar Gutierrez
Cesar Gutierrez teaches Drafting and Precision Manufacturing in the iSTEM Academy at Desert View High School. He earned his Bachelor’s in Vocational Education from Western New Mexico University and is currently working on his Master’s in Curriculum and Technology. Prior to receiving his Bachelor’s degree, he was required to complete 400 hours in industry training, which he completed in Sonora, Mexico, as a designer, AutoCAD trainer and a machine shop specialist.
Mr. Gutierrez’s students receive real world application and learning in his classroom. At Desert View, he has engaged students in reading, mathematics, and project based learning as he prepares them for industry certification and a pathway to college and careers after high school. He finds internships for them with local manufacturing industry companies and collaborates with Pima Community College to bring dual credit opportunities for students that save them high expenses for college level credits. He is a caring and kindhearted teacher who genuinely wants every student to succeed and reach his or her maximum potential.
Outside the classroom, Mr. Gutierrez serves as the advisor for the Youth Career Connect (YCC) program at Desert View. In this role, he mentors students in making informed decisions about their futures, in becoming better citizens, and guides them in community outreach projects and fundraising activities that will assist them in achieving their goals.
